 Quick Start guide to treadmills

Very similar in function to an elliptical trainer a treadmill is a piece of equipment used to simulate the motions of running or walking on a movable belt.

The system can be as basic as one that is solely belt driven or one that is moved by a flywheel. In the more basic models, the user controls the rate of motion by their rate of motion, to the more complicated versions that come equipped with an electric motor where the speed can be set and the user needs to match the speed of the moving belt.

The more expensive models can also be fitted with such options as pre-set workouts, data entry, adjustable speeds and varying degrees of inclination as well as having video displays that allow the rider to simulate a ride through the mountains or seashore while remaining in the comfort of their own home.

The simpler the system the more affordable and the price rises in conjunction with abilities and accessories.
